Copying Lisa again!
Sitting….on the sofa, same spot as last time. I’d be on the porch, but it’s too chilly.
Drinking….ice water, plain
Wondering….about some test results that we won’t have until next week.
Surveying….the pine trees and cloudy sky out the window. We just had a great thunderstorm with a few minutes of hail.
Enjoying….the big pitcher of purple and white lilacs that I cut from our blooming bushes.
Reading….Home, by Marilynne Robinson—same as last month. I read it only in snatches when I have time.
Also reading….the Gospel of Luke, and loving it.
Painting….nothing. And I’m glad.
Anticipating….a good night’s sleep. I hope I’m not disappointed.
Thinking….about “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Easily said, except when definite preferences are at stake. That’s when bowing my will becomes painful indeed.
Breaking….well, realizing my ice cream maker was broken was disappointing when I was ready to churn ice cream this weekend. But Harry came to my rescue and ran out and bought a new one. I made a quart and a half of strawberry and a quart of vanilla bean ice cream. So good!
It’s not a clear picture, but you get the idea. I don’t know how much snow we have on the ground; yesterday it was around 15 inches. I’m guessing we have 6 or 8 more by eyeballing what’s on our back deck. Like we always say in Colorado, we need the moisture. I do kind of dread the muddy roads that are always a product of heavy, wet Spring snows. But right now, we’re cozy and warm, sipping through our second pot of coffee. I’m glad for the extra time to be at home and have another leisurely day.
We woke up this morning to four inches of snow on the ground, and that’s grown to at least ten inches. It’s still coming down heavily and will continue all day. I hope the forecasters are blushing; they predicted one inch. So much for that.
Our poor little daffodils are covered completely over. I wish I had cut the ones that had already bloomed and enjoyed them in a jug on my table! The Ponderosa pine trees that surround us are loaded with the heavy, wet snow—so beautiful!
The birds are happily pecking through the snow to get the worms that have surfaced because of the moisture.
Yesterday Dorothy thanked God for hemming her in, for providing much-needed rest and time alone. It’s my turn today, and I’m thankful for the snow that makes our country roads impassable and gives me permission to have a quiet, slow day at home. Fabulous!
I’m off to the pantry and fridge to see what I can find to make a big pot of soup for lunch. And muffins!
Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary’s mountain.
Refrain:
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.
Refrain
Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o’er me.
Refrain
Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
